Purchase Order Financing — Fund the Order You Cannot Afford to Fill

Purchase order financing pays your supplier so you can fill an order that is bigger than your bank account. The confirmed order from a creditworthy customer is the collateral — which is why even a startup can qualify. It is the answer to the worst moment in a growing business: turning down the order you have been chasing for a year.

Program guidelines shown are our lending partners' published minimums as of September 2026 and can change. They are qualification floors, not an offer.

Who this is right for

  • Wholesalers and distributors landing a big retail or government order
  • Importers with supplier deposits due before customer payment
  • Startups with a signed order and no working capital
  • Businesses that want to take large orders selectively rather than all or nothing

How it works

  1. Show the confirmed purchase order and who it is from.
  2. The lender pays your supplier directly, often the same day.
  3. Goods ship, you invoice your customer.
  4. The facility is repaid when your customer pays — frequently rolled into factoring.

What to watch out for

Every figure on this page is a published program minimum from our lending partner network, not an offer. Your terms come from underwriting.
Straight answers

Purchase Order Financing — straight answers

Can a startup use purchase order financing?
Yes. There is no minimum time in business — you qualify on orders from qualified customers.
Is PO financing the same as factoring?
No. PO financing pays your supplier *before* you deliver; factoring advances against the invoice *after* you deliver. Many businesses use both, back to back.
What if my customer pays late?
The facility keeps accruing cost. Price the order assuming your customer pays at the far end of their terms, not the near end.
